Training

After a year of running a 5k/10k every month my sister and I have decided to run a Half Marathon in early 2010.

We have chosen the Surf City Half Marathon on Feb 7th.   I am very excited as this is quiet an endeavor.  So far the farthest I have run is 6.2 miles which is a 10k and I’ve done 2, by the end of this year I will have 3 under my belt.

I began a 15 week training program that is sort of a mix of a bunch of programs I researched with a little tweaking of my own.  This page will serve as kind of a ‘training log’ of sorts and so I can see my progress, it’s also a way for me to share what I’m doing and what works for me.  My training calls for running 3 days per week with my ‘long’ runs on the weekend.

Because this is my 1st Half, my goal is just to finish.  I am also a single mom who works full time and drives 35 miles each way to work.  That being said one of the KEY things is that I get my miles in with 3 running days a week.  It may not be ideal but I do believe it can be done.  We’ll see.   Any advice or words of wisdom you have would be greatly appreciated.
